Came across this press release on the HSE website - the A&E expansion at Waterford Regional Hospital has been approved and will go to re-tendering. http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/news/wrhed.html .
However 're-tendereing' is probably the key word in the release and I sincerely hope that the development of the A&E at WRH will go ahead THIS time - unlike previous times.
So while I welcome the announcement - I am not yet holding my breath.

We wouldn't need an expansion if the staff didn't have to deal with drunken idiots. Also, if lazy GP's took a bit more responsibily for their patients instead of passing on them on to A&E.How often an A&E consultant ponders 'why exactly did the GP need to send you here?'.
